SHA1 was broken in 2017 (and known to be weak since 2005).
MD5 was broken in 2004 (and known to be weak since 1996).
The next two iterations, TLS 1.0 and TLS 1.1 depend on the security of Message Digest 5 (MD5) and Secure Hash Algorithm 1 (SHA1).
